Re: A Chesapeake Christmas

This is gonna be fun - I'm excited by the turnout so far! The restaurant is putting us in their downstairs room; they already had two other big groups upstairs. The good news about downstairs is that it gives us a bit of leave to be rowdy, I think. I'm also going to email Joe McCary and Mary and invite them to join us.

Oh, and apologies, I should have titled the thread "A Chesapeake Christmas/Chanukah/Kwaanza/Solstice/Holiday Season." Wishing to be as inclusive as possible, and wishing to include as many friends - and friends I haven't yet met - as possible.

Re: A Chesapeake Christmas

Jaye,
I think the new name is "Pleasant Period", Happy Holidays implied it was a holiday, which it might not be for some.

I know it's hard to keep up, but there it is.

Besides, it's easier to say, "have a PP", but not on my foot.

What ever it's called, we'll be there. Heck, my YC just had there award dinner in the same room.

For those who haven't been there before (or those who have been, but forgot) here's the restaurant info: Deep Creek Restaurant and Marina - Waterfront Dining on the Magothy

Re: A Chesapeake Christmas

Mary (MMR) suggested we do a nautical-themed White Elephant gift exchange - something of little to no value, new or used, just for fun. In past years at other nautical White Elephants we've seen dented air horns, a plush "lobster" that burbled Jingle Bells in his underwater voice, seashells, very old nautical charts guaranteed to run you aground, water cannon, an old dock cleat ... Dig deep in your boat's lockers and look for something silly, wrap it up and bring it along. See you at 11:30 Sunday Dec 16th.

(P.S., heard back from Joe, he and Mary will join us as well)

Re: A Chesapeake Christmas

My wife and I are in. We are taking a First Aid Course at Annapolis School of Seamanship Saturday so we can spend the night in Annapolis and make weekend out of it.
