Sail Cleaning/Minor Repairs

I thought I remembered some sail lofts (Annapolis area) that did seasonal cleaning and storage by the pound.

I searched here and looked in Spinsheet but didn't find what I thought I'd remembered.

Bacon?? Others??

Almost any loft will do it. I'm using UK , but only because they built the sail.

Last winter Quantum in Annapolis was advertising the lowest price I saw. I "assumed" that my Sailmaker in Deltaville would be less, but was suprised when the bill was a good deal more. I was told that Quantum must have been using the washing price as an enticement to get the sails in, hoping to make some profit on repairs, since according to my sailmaker you couldn't possibly make money on the wash at the price Quantum was charging. I want to say it was $2.25/lb.

Re: Sail Cleaning/Minor Repairs

We used Quantum Sails for cleaning and repairs on our past 2 boats, they are outstanding! They even told me that one of my sails was just fine the way it was and didn't need any attention at all, they could very well have charged me for unnecessary work but didn't. They also gave me some free sunbrella material when I mentioned I wanted to extend my boom cover. We never needed to store our sails, mine are currently hanging in the garage, but if we needed any type of service Quantum would be my first choice.

Oh yeah, if you're going to get the sails cleaned don't wait too much longer. Amazingly the sails are sent up north to New Hampshire (I think NH) to a place that has huge washing machines for sails, they are then shipped back so now would be a good time to get moving on this.

Quantum, in So.Md; has done about the same thing to me, cleaning (main&150) cheap, $200.00, said 'repairs' (restiching some bad spots, and cutting the 'roach' out of the 'leach') are going to be around $1,000.00, more.
