I missed the rocket launch Friday, I heard it was pretty interesting...did anyone get some pictures? I was so disturbed by the bad food I had at our club that evening I forgot about the launch Deep fried Schnitzel? Burnt potato pancake, and bland sauerkraut...oh well, they never had a chance...my apprenticeship was with a German Master Chef, LOL.

We had a great weekend to ourselves, enjoyed a calm sail up to Worton Creek, sailing from the R4 in Rock Creek to the R2 in Worton before going "inside" to anchor for the night. I made maybe the best tasting shrimp & mango curry I ever have, or maybe we were all just starving...I don't know but it tasted great if I say so myself BTW...was that you Donna (drferron) sailing into the Patapsco Saturday?

At dusk we took a dingy ride with the kids out to do some beach combing and enjoy a pretty sunset. Saw a guy using a Lehr Propane outboard so I had in inquire, he had mixed reviews but overall preferred it to his gas outboard.

Sunday I was hoping for a fast sail home with the weather reports calling for 10-15 with gust to 20 out of the NW...not. Sailed until we were just south of Hart & Miller Island before the wind fell to about 2-3 knots and motored the remaining fee miles.

All in all another great weekend and most of all getting away from all the weeks craziness and just enjoying family time.

Any talk yet about a boat show meet up?

I love Fall sailing. A couple layers, crisp air, 95% less shirtless power boaters...

Re: 2013 Sailing Season

This was the best sailing weekend so far this year on the Rappahannock! Saturday was 10-15 knots out of the South; Sunday was 10-15 knots out of the North. With the configuration of the river, that translated into close/broad reaches both ways with little or no chop!

Re: 2013 Sailing Season

I scheduled a rendezvous with some sailing friends down in Solomon's. It blew up beyond my expectations. There were about 30 people on over a dozen boats that showed up during the weekend.

We had crabs and oysters harvested right out of the creek, huge breakfasts, all the rum and beer a man could drink. Nearly 40lbs of salmon, scallops and cod shipped fresh from the PNW.

I and a friend, bashed our way 58 miles upwind on Friday to get there, and 55 miles upwind to get home on Sunday.

Goooooooood times.

Re: 2013 Sailing Season

Despite the rough conditions, we made it out on Saturday. Ended up having a great time and sneaking into a couple Spinsheet photos.

Re: 2013 Sailing Season

In the past a group has gathered on Friday night hosted by Wingnwing but I think they will be headed south by then?

We could discuss a alternate place but Friday seem to be best for most

Re: 2013 Sailing Season

Say when and where for a SN meeting, I'll be there.

There has to be someone else we know at Port Annapolis.
