Ordinary point is nice. not real deep but deep enough. And it's not very very far up the Sassafras.

Yep--Winters. Final destination is Haven Harbor in Rock Hall. This is a delivery/training trip for the owners. We plan on exiting the western side of the C&D tomorrow. Since it is a training trip as well as a delivery we plan to be in Baltimore Saturday night and Rock Hall sometime on Sunday.

Where is your final destination?

You plot seems very close. probably do a little more than what I estimated , but always best to be conservative. You picking the boat up at Winters? I have always like that trip for scenercy up to Philly ( Walt Witman) Then its nothing but oil refineries ands the airport till you get to Essington where it starts to get nicer again. I am a Philly guy ( Bryn Mawr) originally so I appreciate the waterride down through Philly and the Mosulu and Society Hill.

Chesapeake City is also a possible bailout as was mentioned, but shoaled entrance, swift surrent and current by the bridge at the back of the small tight anchorage. I dislike this place a lot and avoid it, beacuse of the crowds and the 17 ft runabouts who thow down 3 lb anchors and leave to drink. This time of year wouldnt be too bad if you dont make the good time you expect.

Wheres your final destination?

Hope to pass mass Transit tomorrow. Safe trip

Dave

The new owner has a slip in Tall Oaks, Barnegat Bay near Forked River. he bought the boat in Dletville and is moving it slowly to his new spot and I offered to help someof the way. Really depends on weather cooperation and if he can get the starter fixed today.

We keep our C&C 35 MKIII Halekaula in Rock Creek on the south side of the Patapsco when you enter it going up to Baltimore, before the Key Bridge. Harbor Haven is my favorite maina in Rock Hall and where I get work done on our boat. They are a first class place.

Re: Anchorages just just South of the C&D Canal

I vote for Chesapeake City, the town dock on the the west side is free and when I went through there in 09 on April 1 and last October was not crowded. Otherwise lots of room to anchor and a great little seafood pub about two blocks away with all you can eat crabs.

Cool little place to visit.

trip cancelled

Ed,

Transmission on the boat I was helping move needs some work so I will not be in the canal today.

I will be working on my own boat this weekend.

Re: Anchorages just just South of the C&D Canal

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your advice. I departed Riverside, NJ at 06:30 last Friday morning. Arrived at our anchorage, on Friday evening, in the Sassafras River at 17:30.

T'was freezing but alas, the boat had a generator and heat.

Another successful delivery completed.

Glad you had an uneventfull voyage. Did you anchor off of Betterton area or opt for Turner Creek area?

We anchored to the west of R "2", Northwest of Turner Creek. About 1.5 nautical miles in from Grove Point, East of the submerged boiler.
