columbia 29 (?)

hello,

ive been lookin for a boat in my local marina (morro bay) for a long time now, the marina is small and there is a multi year wait for slips if you buy a boat outside of the marina, and i dont want a mooring....

so anyways a boat finally popped up (in my price range!) its a columbia 29..not sure of the vintage but they were made from '61-67. from what ive heard, its a little dirty and needs some elbow grease but has a rebuilt diesel motor (dont know what kind...)

i was just wondering if these were decent boats that can handle some nearshore cruisin here on the west coast, particularly the channel islands. and if the boats are worth the effort and money to restore/outfit, being as they are so old...

thanks for any info!

I found 2 on yachtworld, link here:

YachtWorld.com Boats and Yachts for Sale

They look like a typical full keel cruiser of that era, and if robust enough should satisfy your needs. Get a good survey and go from there. Not likely to be a speedster, and probably a bear to back up, but the S&S pedigree bodes well.....
