NJ Sailor

Hi I am a beginner sailor looking to join a sailing club or help crew a boat. I live in Point Pleasant and if anybody needs an extra crew member please let me know.

Thanks,
Erik

Re: NJ Sailor

Pretty geographically diverse crowd here. May not be any local sailors on SN that can help you out. Check with all the local YCs and boat clubs. That is your best bet to get a ride.

Re: NJ Sailor

Check at some of the local marinas and get a sense for when their races are (typically it's Wed./Thu.). Then hang out and see if anyone needs crew.

This. Find the saltiest guy on the dock, and ask him if he knows if any boats need crew. He can probably give you the rundown on all the cruising skippers, who you want to be ballast for, and who you don't. Great free way to get your butt on a lot of boats and learn some stuff on the way.

Are you looking for keel boat experience or sailing experience?
There is an active catamaran club near by.

Re: NJ Sailor

Haven't had any luck yet finding a boat that needs a crew.
