Crew Wanted: San Francisco to Portland

This is a call for crew *NEXT* year. Leaving approx. April/May 2015.

I will be making the "Up Hill" run from San Francisco, California to Portland, Oregon starting in April or May depending on Spring weather. The vessel is a Tayana 55 (LOA). She is a proven deep blue boat under previous owner. She is rigged for single handing but I would prefer to have a crew for both safety and social reasons.

Minimum requirements:
1. Non-smoker
2. No recreational drug users
3. Able and willing to stand a full 8 hour watch. Willing to share evening and night watches on rotation so nobody has to be stuck with the "bad" watch all the time.
4. Willing to do galley duty - both prepare meal AND clean up.
5. Must be neat and orderly in both person and boat handling.
6. Must be willing to share a cabin with same-sex person.

==> No experience necessary but helpful <==
For limited experience must be willing to come to SF bay early and spend time cruising the bay to gain experience with both sailing, the boat, and the captain.

==> Okay to not make full slog North <==
There will be port calls along the way and you can make 1 leg or all as your time and inclination allow. Preference will be given to those who are willing to make multiple legs.

Please e-mail inis10 at yahoo dot com with questions.

Re: Crew Wanted: San Francisco to Portland

Hi Captain,

My name is Chris and I am 29 year old and have spent the majority of my life between West Africa and the United States. I am a hard worker, and eager to learn all things sailing. My personality is very laid back with a sense of humor and I am a friendly individual who gets along with everyone! I absolutely love the beauty of our world, and the ocean particularly. I am excited by the challenge of sailing, the ability to harness the wind for motion and the ingenuity that an adventure at sea must demand.

I have no sailing experience, but have spent much of my adult life dreaming of building my own vessel someday and sailing the Oceans. They say that "tomorrow never comes" so with resolve I have decided that it is time to make my dream a reality. I began searching forums for opportunities where I could learn the trade as a volunteer, and I wonder if you might could use a crew-hand on your trip for Portland?

Cheers,
Chris

Chris ... and any others who reply to this crew position:

You really MUST provide some contact information with your reply otherwise I have no way of forwarding the full crew prospectus to you!

In my post I gave you an e-mail address ... please send a note to that address and I will reply with your very own copy of the prospectus.

Happy sailing!
- Dave
