Crew wanted for ICW trip south from Norfolk to the Keys for the winter.

I own a Cal'36 that I would like to take south mid November and return in March. The trip down would be in the ICW with a jump or two out with a weather window.

Hello, I could do the trip down. I am a healthy 56 yr. old male. ASA keel boat. Semi-retired. Some experience. Let's talk.

Be happy to help with a leg from Port St Lucie to the Keys. I've been through here two times within the last month and know many of the bridges, anchorages and marinas.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the trip, are you planning on running long hours every day or more of a slow pace with lots of stops along the way? Other details?

Re: Crew wanted for ICW trip south from Norfolk to the Keys for the winter.

Greetings!
Anthony Smith-Rodriguez here just finishing a season of organic farm work in upstate New York, and ready to head south for the winter. I'm looking to crew on a boat heading South within the next few weeks. I am looking for an unpaid position and am willing to contribute to a shared cost arrangement. I have maritime experience both in coastal cruising(around Puerto Rico, USVI and BVI), and as deckhand on a 200ft high speed passenger ferry(MV Athena). I am also a leather and canvas worker, and apprenticed at a marine canvas shop doing mostly boat covers, shades, upholstery and sail repair. I have a current US Passport, am fully bilingual(English/Spanish), able bodied and eager to contribute to any and all tasks required on board any type of vessel. I am currently in Westport, NY, right on Lake Champlain, and would be able to meet up with a boat at any location along the eastern seaboard, or in the Bahamas. I would be interested in either a cruise down the ICW or a straight crossing towards the Bahamas. I would be disembarking either in Florida, Puerto Rico(My homeport) or any of the surrounding islands(Dominican Republic, Vieques, Culebra, USVI or BVI). I'm ready to leave anytime after the 16th of November(sooner if required). Please feel free to contact me at antoinebagsATgmailDOTcom. I can make phone contact at a prearranged time, as I am in a signalless region of the Adirondacks. I appreciate your consideration in having me as part of your crew, and look forward to being back on deck.

Re: Crew wanted for ICW trip south from Norfolk to the Keys for the winter.

Hi there,

It's January now so I'm interested in helping on the return trip back to Virginia if you still need a hand. I would be available for the whole trip or just a leg depending on the timing of your return voyage. I've got several years of sailing experience working sails, maneuvering under both sail and engine power, and I'm a quick learner in new environments. Thanks for your consideration!

Cheers,
Casey

How far south have you made it ? It appears El Nino, this year is providing much wind & above average qty. of "liquid sunshine " !
Hope all's well with hull,crew & rigging...
BTW:how much of your southbound / return trip plan was/ to be via ICW vs outside ?
