IP Bermuda Rally '08 L@@king for Experienced crew
A Bermuda Spring '08 rally is being organized by one of the members of the Island Packet Owner's Group. So far after only one week after the announcement (1) IP-32, (3) IP 35's, (1) IP 37, (2) IP 380's and (2) IP 420's or nine boats total have signed on.
As the organizer I am trying to locate experienced Bermuda crew to accompany some of the inexperiened owners. The crew needed are for all size boats mentioned above except my IP32.
This is a fun and not a paid position, you will be expected to travel both legs, the owner will provide all meals, beverage and snacks. Boats will be shoving off from two locations, NY Harbor and Norfolk Harbor.
USCG licenses are not required but will be considered a plus.
Offshore experience in small monohull sailboats is the only absolute requirement though sailing references will also be required and verified. Preference will be given to any sailor whose resume has been provided and accepted by any of the 'known' offshore insurance underwriters whether as crew or captain.
Interested in what promises to be a fun time? Then send a brief note of your interest including a short sailing resume to:
The go, no go date for the owner's group is January 31, so I need crew slots filled well before that so that the owners needing crew can make their final commitment to the rally.
Thank you for your attention,
Nice, have ya posted this on SA?
Could you please post the planned departure date for the rally? Thanks.
At the present time the departure is tentatively set for May 24/25 but could go to May 31.
The go, no go date for the entire rally is scheduled for January 31, meaning that we will make a firm committment one way or the other as to the rally itself by then and at that time publish the departure date. It is very unlikely it will change from the 24th except in the case of a severe weather phenomonon.
So far, with the interest we have it is almost surely going to happen but the departure date is yet to be agreed upon amongst the owners .
