Well the problem here isn't the fantasy, it's that this is "Crew Wanted" on a sailing forum, not a dating website. It's not the place to seek "Sailors with Benefits".

OK I give in! I'll go to bora bora. Deposit 20 K in my bank accnt. and give me your written contract that I'll have salon service at every port, and a cabin boy to attend my needs and private cabin, and ac, and hot and cold water in a private head, fresh flowers, water taxi at every port, new wardrobe for each port. Oh.. and electric winches, 24/7 genset, satellite tv and phone. lobster, steak, sushi by the on-board chef. OK, well that was just my short list!

The fantasy itself is also problematic, on reflection. The "no sailing experience required" mixed with traveling to Bora Bora (so weeks long with no other human contact, on a boat that's likely a floating man-cave) mixed with the undercurrent of sexual expectation just doesn't mesh at all. It signifies some fairly unrealistic expectations of how to interact with the fairer sex.

So spot on Looking. most likely another "creep" that really believes what he's saying will work

What's sad is there are girls out there willing to be sweet talked. Just last year a some young lady posted about this trip she was going on with this adrenalin junkie type that had a outdoor type business going. The boat was lost, they were rescued she dropped off sail net far as I know. (it was in the her sail net section here)

Oh Please, when did the Taliban Police arrive? An OLDER GUY is looking for a YOUNGER GIRL to go off sailing with? When did this become such a shocker? This thread would be long dead if not for the flamers. Live and let live.

Well, he didn't actually say a younger girl, that was just my assumption.

You're right of course, I shouldn't complain, I don't turn to this forum for any sort of advice at all anymore, and it's deeply frustrating trying to offer decent advice about what I do know, given the scores of uninformed counter-opinions that are posted. Most people of any seriousness have left for greener pastures, and now it's mostly reams of bad advice with occasional nuggets of wisdom tossed in. If it works as a sailor's dating service, more power to Sailnet.
