need 2 experienced crew
Hi Joe,
In short, it is my most treasured expereince. Of course, there were periods when I would have diagreed with that statement!
It is so hard to find the "right" crew for an adventure. I foolishly thought that finding crew would be the easiest thing, if only I could get the boat and my finances straight. Wrong. I found myself trying to make my dream the dream of my friends. After being "let down" a few times by close friends when it came near departure date, I realized that finding the right crew is difficult. I took on an inexpereinced crew whom I didn''t know. One of those backpacker "I''m off to see the world" types. A good heart, but not up to the cruising challenge. Many people don''t realize how much hard work cruising really is. She lasted about 700 miles. Alone, I was able to get more in touch with what I was doing and had a much clearer sense of what I was after. It was great! Sometimes frightening, sometimes frustrating, it was NEVER dull. In anchorage, you are never without friends. The sailor community cruising is magical and you will meet lifelong friends, for sure. It will be the best thing you ever do. I promise.
Good Luck,
Doug

Oh, the boat was a 32'' Bayfield Cutter and I was away for 6 months.
