Bad Captain Warning!!

Just a heads-up to all fellow cruisers/boaters--there is a man by the name of Jerry Eden who is a frequent poster to this and other bulletin boards looking for crew. His claim-to-fame is "free" deliveries. Although this man talks the talk, I personally experienced his very poor seamanship skills, and have since been in contact with numerous other former crew and boat owners who have had horrible experiences with this individual. Not only has he damaged vessels and been fired several times for incompetence, but according to the Coast Guard, Eden does NOT HAVE A VALID CAPTAIN''S LICENSE!! and there are several on-going investigations into his activities as a "captain." If you are considering crewing with him, or using him to deliver your boat, be sure to check ALL references (especailly the last 5) via phone (email references are easily faked) and call the CG to ask about the status of his license.

Bad Captain Warning!!

In any case I suggest all boat-owners and people looking for crew positions should read the ''Crew Tips & Advice" at http://www.cruiser.co.za/crewfinder.asp before taking on crew or taking a crew position on a yacht.

Do your homework thoroughly.
