Newbie in DC ready to crew

Hello all,

I am a newbie sailor with little sailing experience, other than sailing a 25' CC out on the Potomac a few hours here and there. It is my dream to sail around the cape horn and Antartica in the near future. That said, I'd like to "crew" with others experienced sailors to learn and get experience.

My question is: Are there people out there looking for beginner crew members like me? What type of crew jobs should I be looking for?

Thank you ,
R

Contact me via PM. You'll have to post publicly a few more times before the system will allow you to send a PM though.

I'm in Annapolis. We can talk over lunch and see if we can help each other.

Be careful who you sign up to crew for.

Here's actual footage of what it's like crewing on Bubblehead's boat.

You don't want any of that.

Here's what it's like when you sail on my boat
.

Make your choice.

My boat's moored just north of Annapolis on the Severn.

Hey Will,

lol....great introduction to "crewing" Funny clip
As you mentioned, I cannot send IMs on this site at this point. Have you started this season? What type of trips do you usually go far?

Sure, let's get lunch sometimes. Do you work in the city?

Thanks,
Raouf

Re: Newbie in DC ready to crew

I'm gearing up to do a longer trip in May, hopefully around the Delmarva peninsula, if not farther:
. In the meantime I'll be doing daysails and some weekend trips.

Oh, and here's another video of Bubblehead meeting another boat: Jeesh. I'd stay clear of that guy.

Will,
Are you familiar with SIM Expeditions? They organize sail expeditions around the world.
I am interested in the Cape horn..should be fun

Are you doing any sailing in Annapolis this weekend?
Cheers

Re: Newbie in DC ready to crew

I plan to go out this weekend if the weather is reasonable. My boat is currently engineless and I live 8 miles up the river, so Bubblehead may be a better intro to more open water, since I believe he's much closer to the Bay. But you can contact me at 443 three seven zero 26 03 if you'd like.
