24 y/o Student/Veteran looking to crew DC/Maryland

Hello!

I've been a member of this site for a while, and its members helped me pick out and enjoy a Catalina 22 that I sadly had to sell at the end of last year. Now, the sailing bug has bit again, and I would love to get back out on the water. I am currently a physics student at George Mason University after completing 5 years in the Army. I have roughly 2 years sailing experience with the Catalina 22 and a few other boats, but there is always more to learn and I am eager to help out. I currently live in the DC area and am off for the summer, so my schedule is wide open. I'm in good shape, love to learn, and can follow directions well.

If you would like me to join you for a daysail/overnighter/larger trip on the Chesapeake Bay or Potomac, please let me know.

Thanks!
Wyatt

Wyatt, you're welcome to sail with us ... we're two civil engineers living on a (slow, heavy) CSY 33 who'd enjoy talking about the physics of sailing on moderate-air weekdays sailing out of Annapolis. We're also planning on going to the MYC raftup June 9.

Racing and distance races would both be great learning opportunities for me, and I would greatly appreciate the instruction. Like I said I'm fairly fit and can take orders well, so I'd love to give it a try.

Wyatt,

I'll be in touch with you via PM in a few weeks when I have another open weekend. I too live in N. VA and I keep my boat in Pasadena, MD. Do you have a car or would you need a ride?

I have a car, but with the price of gas these days I don't mind sharing gas cost. I live around Alexandria.

Greetings. Interested in a quick run from Pt Canaveral Fl. to Ft. Lauderdale. Wyatt, you sound like an enterprising fellow, and thanks for your service to the nation. I am a member of Pentagon Sailing Club. Looking for crew to help move my 45 Wauquiez from Pt. Canaveral to Ft. Lauderdale. Will cover all travel expenses. Crew needs to be in Orlando, Fl. by noon 7 June, with return to the WDC area 10/11 Jun, from Ft. Lauderdale. If you are interested/available, email administration@frda.us. Thanks. Randa45

A more ambitions journey, but you may be up for it. . .

I'm buying a 28 ft sailboat from my aunt who has it in Chesapeake Bay. I'll be sailing it around FL to Corpus Christie, TX at which point I'm renting an F350 and a trailer to drive it to Long Beach, CA. You'd be welcome to join me for all or part of the journey, looking for a hand to keep her sailing 24/7 and have the shortest possible trip.

The Daingerfield Island Sailing Club holds races every Tuesday night at 6:30 on the Potomac River across from the Alexandria rowing clubhouse. Approximately three dozen keelboats, ranging from 22 to 33 feet, race in spinacker and non-spin fleets. We race a Helms 27 in the non-spin fleet. If you are interested in seeing if you would like to jrace, e-mail me at jlmcpherson [at sign] verizon.net.
