Hey all,
I am Captain Casey M. Copsey of the Skipjack Caleb W. Jones. A recently restored Chesapeake Bay skipjack. I am seeking crew for the annual skipjack race in cambridge this weekend. My first mate suffered a heart attack early this week and will unfortunately be unable to sail with me. Duties are incredibly easy and really only consist of keeping me company and awake. Perhaps a limited amount of time on the helm. My original sail plan was to leave thursday morning and either stop in solomons for the night or continue on straight through to cambridge. Meals will be provided for anyone who might be available to make the trip. I can leave early friday morning if i must to accomodate an individual who is unable to free up thursday on such short notice. The race will be Saturday morning, I will either leave saturday afternoon or early sunday morning. Depending on my energy level and number of crew I am able to round up. My ship will depart from cobb island maryland and arrive their. Though i can potentially make a stop somewhere further south in the potomac or north in the chesapeake to accomodate potential crew.
This is an incredible opportunity for anyone with a passion for historic boats or wooden boats in general. Accomodations are fairly modest. Crew need to bring their own sleeping bag/blanket, and foul weather gear. All else will be provided by myself.
Thanks for reading this thread and hopefully someone out their might be willing to help a young captain out for the weekend.
P.S. If there are any sailors in the cambridge area that can make the race portion of the trip only feel free to contact me. I can get the boat their myself but she is a large ship to single hand during a race, and the course is fairly tight leaving a very small margin for error
