UK crewfinder websites

Hello everybody.

Just arrived back in the UK and I want to get some coastal sailing time in.

Can anybody recommend a UK site for finding Skippers looking for crew?

David what sort of sailing are you looking for and were in the UK are you based. Most offshore sailing is limited at the moment due to the winter. Plenty of people still going out over weekends, probably worth hanging around the yacht clubs and marinas in the South Coast. I am looking for longer deliveries but think I have left it too late in the season. A website I have had success with in the past has been Crewseekers.net but it's not free. Also PYD is one of the largest delivery companies in the UK they may be worth a go. PM me and maybe we can pool resources to find some sailing

Good Luck

Ben

Hi Ben,

I work full time (saving for my first yacht) so my free time or lack thereof means that I could only do a day out here and there unless I am using annual leave.

I am based in the Northwest, a place called Northwich in Cheshire.

Just investigating the possibilities of getting out on the water and getting some coastal/offshore experience as most of the sailing that I have done has been on Scottish Lochs. I sold my last boat (27' Soling) in 2011 and really miss 'playing on boats'...

Really just any excuse to get out on the water and get some more experience, I am hoping to get through my day skipper and coastal yacht masters in 2013 so I am sure there will be some scope to play when the weather warms up into the spring.

Most of the yachts I am looking at (studying the classifieds in anticipation) are on the south coast it seems, but maybe you could come and help me move my new (to me) yacht to it's new home in Cheshire in the spring (aiming for end of April purchase!).

Good to connect with you in any case Ben.

Good luck with the boat hunting and please get in touch if you purchase a boat and need help moving it. Feel for you, once you get the sailing bug a week without being on the water is depressing. I am currently helping some friends from overseas buy a boat to retire on so the closest I get to a sail is trudging round marinas videoing old Dutch barges. On the plus side if you have cash a great time to buy a boat as the market is rock bottom.
