Am experienced but not willing to pay all bills, food, travel. Good luck. You are not offering anything of value here. Experienced crew are in demand and get at least travel and food. May you have fair winds and following seas. Aloha.

Re: Experienced Crew needed from Tahiti to Fiji

Experienced crew doesn't need an "opportunity to sail". The opportunity you present with your attitude here as a reflection of what your attitude on board would be like is less than appealing. It's no wonder you can find no takers.

You want to comments on your post and expect others to just listen. Very controlling I would say

As far as your welcome as a first timer, you come on board looking for something for yourself, and by your responsive are very aggressive, most members on SN are much more collegiate and less insulting. People usually respond the way they are treated on SN. Lighten up some and the responses you get will be similar

Good luck on your sail

Dave

Re: Experienced Crew needed from Tahiti to Fiji

yes.. and as I have said from the beginning.. I was looking for crew.. I stipulated the terms etc. it was NOT up to anyone else to critique what I was looking for. I did NOT post looking for advise from people as to whether they thought I was reasonable or fair in what I was asking. I simply wanted the right to be left in peace..if someone was interested they could contact me if not, fine.. I bore no one ill will. BUT when people give unsolicited "advise" in the form of telling me and everyone reading... that I will Never get good crew... don't you think that casts a shadow on my post... that it plants the seeds of "hey.. yea... I should be paid, because someone said so". I'm sorry but I have been pushed and pushed. .. what right do they have to make what I'm asking for look bad and unreasonable? ?? Why can't tbey just not say anything and leave it alone ? if what I was asking truly was unreasonable. .don't you think I would have discovered that without them bashing what I requested for everyone to see. ?? yes I've list my temper .. but I contend.. It is MY RIGHT to ask whatever I want and let the results speak for themselves without someone who ISN'T involved coloring it negative.

I will do Tahiti to Fiji, If it takes 15 days or 4 weeks for a flat fee of Au$4850+ meals. And that's cheap.

*Speaks slowly* ...And you're still looking for crew...so, maybe, everybody else who tried to give you that unsolicited advice was on to something?

Re: Experienced Crew needed from Tahiti to Fiji

debbie, you are absolutely coorect- it is YOUR RIGHT to post on a public forum... just as it is OUR RIGHT to reply. (Did the capitals add emphasis, make my point any stronger or display the amazing power of my intellect. Nope. Didn't work for yours either.) The people replying here, debbie, aren't "hating"- they are providing you with the benefit of their experience and knowledge.
The fact that you don't like the advice doesn't make it any less valid.
That advice was given in the hopes of, believe it or not, helping you. Maybe a change in your approach might change the results of your crew search?
Instead, here you are, months later, still looking for crew who will also pay for passage.

As rockDAWG will attest, being a frequent delivery crewperson- the standard is that, in return for crewing, meals are provided by the skipper, and airfare for the flight home is a frequent custom.

Experience delivery crew understand that this is the rules of the game, and anybody who expects temp crew to pay their own way shows their inexperience- which will make good help wary.

Please take this advice in the spirit in which it is offered- like everyone else here, I am trying to help.
