Welcome to Sailnet rgniazdowsk. And, no this is far from the norm. We are a bunch of pretty good guys who love to sail and muck about boats. This thread was rediculous in that..........you know........Welcome to Sailnet.

I've been lurking around Sailnet for a while now and usually the people who post come across as friendly and helpful. The tone of this thread was considerably different which is why i was prompted to comment.

Don't let this put you off. There's lots of great information here - the posts aren't usually so negative.

It was one person and one person only who set the tone for this thread. Debbiedragonfly came onto this website with an attitude you would not believe. After just a couple of posts she stated that everyone on this website was basically an idiot because we did not adhere to her ideals.
Keep in mind that she was in need of crew but was not willing to listen to good sound advice and then she copped an attitude like you would not believe. The self deleting of her own posts speaks volumes.

Dog ship is correct. The site has many nice and informative friendly sailors/

Since you didn't read what Debbiedragonfly wrote it would be kind of uninformed to criticize the replies wouldn't it? Why do you think she deleted everything....that's really dishonest.

She was rude, inconsiderate, and eschewed any and all advice. Basically telling us off individually in each of her posts.

Quite frankly I am glad she shoved off......she is what we don't need on here. It is a good site of both male and female sailors.

Like others I would never set foot on a boat she was on with the attitude she carried. Life is to short. I have no problem with qualified captains and crew no matter what gender.

Re: Experienced Crew needed from Tahiti to Fiji

This site has been full of kindness and good information. It's unfortunate that an ignorant person would come on here and bash good advise. For her to think that anyone should feel privileged to WORK on her boat is a joke. Also, this has nothing to do with her being female. It's all about her attitude toward other people.

Welcome to Sailnet.

Now not to seem unfriendly, but it does seems peculiar to me, that you joined the same day as the OP deleted her posts, and that on your first visit here you would find this particular thread and choose to post your thoughts regarding what you perceive as 'extreme negativity' here as your very first and to date only post. I wonder if you and Debbie share an IP address??

If my suspicions are incorrect then I encourage you to hang around and you will find this place to be anything but what you claim.

Coincidence, Chall... US midwest vs Canada...

To rgniazdowski, you picked an unfortunate starting spot. This thread is not this site's 'usual' tone, stick around and you'll see...
