Need help sailing S2 Plymouth MA to Providence RI next weekend

I bought a boat last winter, an S2 9.2A, 30' sloop. Due to delays in launching and repairs, friends I had planned to sail with can't make it. I'd like to leave next Friday or Saturday as conditions are mostly favorable and the PO is lending me his mooring there, which he'll need soon.

I'm willing to pay someone to deliver if a reasonable fee, and who could give me some pointers along the way.

We're talking leaving in the afternoon y for East end of canal from Plymouth, spending night in Sandwich, then catching west current throughto Buzzard's bay, the Newport, up to Providence, sailing, motoring or both.

Anyone interested, even with limited experience, please let me know. I'm 51,
easy to get along with, and love to sail. Can arrange for ride back to your home or vehicle.

Thanks for any help or contacts. I can't post my email yet on here, but will check thread.

Really LONG second day

Sandwich, MA to Providence, RI is a LONG way for a day sail. I went from Sandwich to South Dartmouth, MA in about 3.5 h at 6-6.5 kts. South Dartmouth is about 30% of the way there, so you may be looking at 12h + easily at 6kts.

Anyway you can get through the Canal the day before and layup in Onset or Marion?

If you liked my advice/response, give me some rep points. If you didn't......well what do you expect, it was free.

Definitely get through the canal on day 1. Spend the night in Onset or Marion or Pocasset (Kingmans), my favorite.

If you come out the Canal with the current and against the common SW wind, you will face some five miles of 6 foot chop. In such circumstances, consider an escape path via the shore channel that hugs Wings neck. See Active Captain for details. several regards...
