Mithril will depart the Canary Islands for Ireland in April and we will be taking crew for the first part as far as the Azores.

This is a great opportunity to explore some of the Canary Islands before an ocean voyage. Many yachts on passage between Europe and the Caribbean miss visiting the smaller ports in the Canary Islands opting instead to re-provision and depart from Las Palmas, which is a city, like any other.

Mithril will depart Gran Canaria from Puerto Rico on that island’s south coast and sail to Tenerife, la Gomera and la Palma over the first few days. This gives crew time to familiarise themselves with the boat as well as seeing other islands.

The ocean passage to the Azores is approximately 1,000 miles.

Under normal conditions we should have time for some day sailing through the Azores on arrival before the voyage ends in Ponta Delgada, the main port in the group.

The cost of this voyage is £600. This figure does not include return airfares or personal insurance.
