I would suggest a charter w/captain & crew. They would probably
take you anywhere you wanted to go for 1K$+/day

Hmmmmm - note to self - business opportunity

DM 567.. I agree with sailingdog. Two decades ago, ferro-guru John Sampson Of Maple Bay B.C. used to charge approx. $5500 for an ocean sailing leg aboard Stormstrutter, but even at that you were expected to pull your weight. He took up to 6 paying crew, but it was all about learning off-shore sailing.

I'm having a good time on the coast of CA and still have an interest of an ocean crossing. Perhaps I should just find some able bodied seamen and take my boat for the ride. Its been from Alaska to Florida and back already. I just love being on the water and thought it might be entertaining to just relax for a change. If thats not possible I'm OK with it

You could check with these folks, Offshore instruction is offered but may not be required. For more info you could contact Michael Sawyer at Orca Sailing.

I have a fisher 34 that the previous owner took from Alaska to Florida and back so it can do the miles. However, I don't feel comfortable enough to attempt an ocean crossing and I don't want to do it twice to get the boat back.

Hiring a crewed charter would be a great option; only they may not want to cross an ocean without coming back either. There are also many sailing schools offering ocean crossings at reasonable prices. That might be a good start. I don't mind working; paying and working I mind a little more.

(OK all the expert wise guys, off course I can sail back and of course I can pay the crewed charter to sail back also. Perhaps I have a family and job and not unlimited time or money.)

5user5, You may wish to check out "Offshore Passage Opportunities" Offshore Passage Opportunities: Halesite, New York. They have a New York to Gibraltar passage for $4500 USD but it is sold out. I expect you would have your share of work on any of these sorts of trips. Shorter passages may be wise before trying transat. OPO has shorter trips and I imagine there are other companies. I haven't done it and have no association with OPO but they sail Swans! mmmmmmm.
