I have my ASA 101-105 and I am ready to take off. Lost my pride and joy to my ex husband and I am looking to just sail away. Tried the land life for a while, but it is driving me mad. Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt please. He posted phone numbers of the marina where the boat is located and the number of the previous owner.

If it's a scam it will soon be exposed, what we don't need is unjustified speculation when confirmation is just a phone call away.

The IP address this member posted from is Amsterdam which is a common portal for a lot of European internet traffic, so he's not in the states trying to pull a fast one on anyone. In another post he admits to owing storage and offering to share some of the cost to get the boat "out of hock". I invite someone to make the call to the marina if you want the facts.

Mr. Admin Dude: What concerns me is the fact that it is always the same post over and over. But I won't comment on it anymore. Just looking out for folks. Let me ask you a dumb question. When a post like this that is just the same thing over and over....over a period of months keeps appearing. What responsibility does Sailnet have to investigate? Just asking.

Why would anyone want to help pay for marina fees for a boat that they will have to work to get into sailing shape, if they don't own it, aren't getting paid to do the work to re-fit the boat, and would probably have to spend some considerable time and possibly money to get ready to sail. Granted, JR3 doesn't want to charge them to have the dubious privilege of sailing it... but neither does he want to commit the money to properly restore it and to pay them to do the work that is involved in restoring it.

Then, on top of it all, he wants them to sail it to a foreign country without having taken care of all the legal paperwork that is necessary for that to happen.

JR3 also appears to be unwilling to insure the boat for the people moving it, and has asked them to do so... which is both irresponsible and a risk most are not willing to take.

Txsailorgirl has got the fever so many of us have.
We all just want to "Sail Away". On land is were we tend to get into trouble. On the open water, we are free. Becareful, many might try to take advantage of the situation. Not that I would ever do anything like that.

Thanks for all the good advice. I am really looking to get to Australia and get my boat back myself. My ex husband got it in the divorce and then he took off before I could prove that I had the boat years before I knew him. I am wanting to go there and get my boat back so really I am just looking for a ride.... Or anything else that won't get me killed LOL
