I posted this on craigslistwo weeks ago and got lots of response but then I didn't know much about the boat or the timeframe. My needs have changed, I've seen the boat, and I can be more specific.
I have plenty of volunteers who have the navigation and sailing skills sufficient to get the boat down here, now I'm being choosy. I'm looking for a real cruising junkie who, (in 40 hours) can teach me how to get the most out of this boat. And I want to make the trip the weekend of October 25th
I'd also be open to a cruising couple as I'd like to learn about sailing as a family.
It's a 1977 Camper & Nicholson 31. It is fully equipped and in good shape. Most things are in excellent condition, (sails, running
rigging, dingy) It was just put in the water last week after three years on the hard.
The engine started on the first try and runs great. Likewise the electronics are functional.
email me for pictures of the boat.
Here's what the trip would look like;
We would leave from Norfolk Thursday afternoon for the five hour drive up. One of us would need to return a rental car to BWI while everyone else gets the boat ready. If all goes well we would leave Thursday night or first thing Friday morning. Weather and conditions permitting, we would sail continuously down to the lower Chesapeake in the hope of making the trip in 35-40 hours, arriving late Saturday
If I got a volunteer from the North end of the trip they would need to get their own transportation home, but I might spring for a train ticket depending on what that volunteer brings to the team.
