Guess the other 5 guys that left were just "not bad guys" either.

captkris has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Well, let’s see. Out of six guys 2 came on board twice just to mess-up without any intentions to sail with us. One somehow got friendly with the first two and left with them. One guy told me one month early that if we will not sail by May 20-th he must go back home and I agreed and expected that. Next is Kacper and we all know his feelings. Last guy was I and I stayed on the boat ready to sail on May 21. Those it makes anybody bad or good? Is it just incredible happening or arranged situation? Etc.
Look, if I would know about this thread on time I would get involve into that subject early. Now, it looks like only Kacper was unhappy and I am troubled by that fact. I wish it could happen otherwise. Plus, most of you are misinformed by much information in Kacper thread. I am not saying he laid but his info was not exact. All crew knew what they were getting into and it was there personal choice to get involved to it. We almost accomplished what we planned, but for some reason anything we touched created another small problem, which simply burned us out. It’s like the runner whom visualizes the finishing line but can not get there ... is this right expression?!
None of my crew can say that I tricked them into it and used them without fulfilling my obligations. They were all very well informed by my e-mail about the situation - weeks before - and anyway they insisted to be a part of it.
I am not separating my crew from myself or from each other - they were my crew regardless of what happened and I like to believe and leave it that way that none of us wanted to do any harm to anyone.
Everyone have the right to his own opinion - it’s not right when the opinion is made without proper info. No, I am not trying to be offensive I just wish my case would not be dominated by ignorance and arrogant comments.
I realize the bad outcome of that thread and can not stop you from making comments I just don’t want anyone to make a full of themselves by making comments without solid bases.
I said it all and I am not hiding so, anyone can ask me questions if it’s needed. I think I should stop responding just to comments and please, forgive me that ignorance. I will answer questions if anyone e-mails me one.
On the meantime I do have three crew members, but could sail with more.

Fair winds to all,
captkris

Thank you, It is a Legend 35.5 I really enjoy it for Coastal Cruising Its like a high perfomance pool toy. Not at all bad for a production boat. No thread hijack intended..

Put Up or .............

Hey C-kris, here's a thought.

You seem to be asking an awful lot to be taken on faith, when you consider the not-insubstantial investment you are asking of potential crew. Add to that a number of factors that weigh against you:

Low Post count
bad reputation through previous encounters (deserved, or not)
and a rather combative tone in your current exchange (Inot a trait "I" would like to see in someone I'm going to trust my life to....)

Now, here's my suggestion, if you want to change the tide of this conversation:

How about a member photo gallery of your boat and the repairs? (If all of it is cosmetic, I am SURE it would show)
Had a survey? post it. (scan to your above mentioned gallery)
Ditto on Insurance Policy
You're located in NY? Ask another member of Sail Net from your area to come check out your boat. We all LOVE to mess around on boats; and there are members here qualified to give it a once over and verify at least SOME of your claims.

While none of these suggestions would be sufficient to make a final decision whether or not to sail with you; they would go a long way in at least making it a possiibility that you might get some qualified crew.

Just my 2 cents, Fred

Thank you for very smart suggestion. I did not think about it. Coincidently this coming Friday member of the sailnet will visit my boat and I am going to ask him to write his opinion.

Fred,
Thanks for your 2 cents :-). After someone’s e-mail and my second reading of your advice it came to my attention:
-low post count.... should not really decide as a factor against me/anybody as I/we spend most of the time sailing then chatting on the internet (can not combine the two),
-bad reputation through previous encounters ... it was only one previous encounter and only from one person and it is not necessary properly justify, and this also should not decide about my reputation, but I fill that I own some explanation to the interested parties.
- combative tone (?!) ... English is my fourth language and I can build sentences with some limits in expression, grammar and style. So, perhaps as a result many can find it sound strange. Sorry about that, my intentions are not meant to be in combative tone. This also should not be a factor against me after all. As Capt I always did and will stand along with any of my crew and not offend them or disohnestly use them even if we fail our mission
(anyway only captains are responsible for crews action on the boat/ship and I am taking all the "blame", but will not give up my reputation I build for over frothy years, because of one person opinion and this unfortunately failed trip !!!).
Perhaps above will give more understanding in this case.

I will work on your suggestions and present it to this forum. On the meantime anyone is welcome to talk to me about it if one wishes so. Boat is fully sound not a "junke floating device" (as it was discribe in the thread) and it is great sailing vessel. We did many, many pleasant trips on her.

Also, allowed me please to respond to freesail99 :
FREESAIL99 ...yes indeed he was very well informed about situation. I did send him and everyone else e-mails well in advance of there arrivals. He probably did not realize what it is replacing engines as well as I did not expect this many problems with installation. Other prep went very well considering we did empty many lockers that accommodated over the years all kind of staff. Most of it old paints and old engine parts, transmissions, propellers etc. (yes, sailors collect staff just in case :-))
Why we wanted to sail to begin with??!!
Well, Is this your say: "Why?" But I dream things that
never were; and I say, "Why not?"

Fair winds

So, who's the ahem, fortunate, sailnet member who's going to check out the Cap's boat? Be sure to give us some details afterwards. I can see how writing on the net in a language not your own could cause misconceptions.

It is someone I dont know yet as he found my add and possibly want to sail to Saint Thomas. He want to check the boat and I guess myself as well and then decide about partycypation. He did let me know that he is aware of the thread and whole story.
