Good point... I'd disagree about the last part... that isn't always true.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Congrats on your pending nuptials. I just remarried in July. Luckily she is a sailor and wouldn't even think about selling the boat.

We keep Black Seal in Charlestown and would be happy for you to join us for some sailing this summer. We also do the Figawi party.. er.. race each year. Not sure what our crew needs are for this year yet but can let you know as we get closer.

Can't pm until I up my post count but you can reach me at markdigi at comcast dot net.

There are a number of sailing clubs in the Boston area for the boatless among us. Boston Harbor Sailing Club, Boston Sailing Center, and the Pelegic (?not sure of the spelling on that...). I reccomend that you join, or at least lurk on, the Mass Bay Sailors Group in yahoo (groups.yahoo.com/groups/massbaysailors/). Good place to meet up with other sailors and socialize.

Best of luck in the trade...
ehirlihy - Great Idea, Thanks

Jimmyb - What kind of dog, we actualy just started looking for one

Markdigi - Thanks, I will shoot you an email. Already part of a full time crew for Figawi. I don't know if you have ever seen the red Dirty Sister Racing jackets....thats us here is a link to our poorly done website:

Dirty Sister Racing

However I would love to have a chance to sail around Boston harbor as I have only done the inner harbor on a Rhodes 19 a couple of times. How do you like being in Charlestown? Sailing all day and then having a cocktail at Tavern on The Water sounds like a great recipe for relaxation!

Your team is far more competitive in the Figawi than mine. Our motto is "You can lose the race but you can't lose the party".

I really enjoy sailing out of Charlestown. Lot's to see and do around Boston Harbor. It was real convenient when I lived in Melrose a little less so now that I'm in Beverly.

Definitely shoot me an e-mail when you'd like to go out. The boat should be back in Charlestown around May 3rd. Cocktails at the Tavern are great after a long (or short) sail.

Mark:

Looking forward to meeting up with you in a couple months at Figawi!

In fact we have a team stratagy meeting tonight at Joes American. Tonights meeting should be intense covering such topics as:

"Should we get 1 order of buffalo wings or 2"

"Wether or not it is appropriate to drink wine on guys night out"

"Figuring out new ways of telling the Admirals at home that Figawi this year was just ok and that we can't wait to get home."

Real serious stuff!

By the way, I live in Salem. Let me know if you like to meet up for a beer before Figawi....you have to train sometime!!

Hi Mike,

Looked in up in our racing manual.

2 orders of wings.
Red wine only and preferably with steak.
Etc...

Definitely would like to have a drink, er start training before the Figawi. I'm right next door in Beverly. Plenty of excellent training facilities in the Beverly/Salem area. If you'd like e-mail me directly and we'll figure something out.

Mark
