Newport to Boston

Anyone interested in sailing Newport to Boston over the next couple of weeks? I'm not exactly sure of the dates as of yet! We'd be sailing from Brewer's Sakonnet marina up to Constitution Marina in Boston Harbor.

Brez & Merlin,

Boat: W.D. Schock New York 36

Timeframe: In a perfect world the weekend of June 13th-June 15th. In a not so perfect world the weekend after. I've never done the trip before but my rough estimate is about 20 hrs sailing time.

Also, I've never navigated the Cape Cod canal so it would be a huge plus if some one has done it before.

I am very interested.

Sounds like a fun trip. I could do an day/overnight if you are willing to take crew for part of the trip. I would have my wife drop me off at the start and then pick me up at the next convenient port. PM me if this is of interest.

I think that this will be a good long two day full sail; maybe more than 20 h. It may take you almost full day just to go from Mattapoisett through the canal. (I am guessing). You'll have to time the S-N trip through the canal dead pretty accurately. I don't think that there is much leeway on the time in this direction.

From Plymouth area to Boston is a good 6 to 8 h sail provided you have favorable winds. Any wind direction from prevailing from the North, will force you to beat a lot and thus add time. You want the wind from the Easterly, Southerly, or Westerly direction for this leg.

Cool!

DrB,

Sorry doesn't look like my post count is high enough for PMs.

But, would love to have you for whatever part of the trip you're able.

What works best in terms of scheduling for you? I'm pretty flexible and could take Friday off or leave early Saturday morning. It's looking pretty good that she'll be ready to go the weekend of the 13th.

Mike

I'll check my calendar and consult with the Admiral, but I think she'll be fine with it.

Unfortunately that weekend is really busy for me, if it doesn't work out and you have alternate dates, please let me know!

Fair winds!
