Thank you, you just made my point! And might I add nasty and vindictive as well. I think you all need to take a good, hard look at yourselves. My original post was both honest and sincere--your replies say much more about you than me.

I can live with that....I am a sore loser, sitting in my damp basement, dreaming of sailing a boat with a woman....that's me...

good luck on your trip...

Alex,
You're setting a very high standard for the rest of us. Can't wait for the response, this could be a good thread as all like it have been. I was ok with the second from last response but the last one?

You must be reasonably bright, intelligent and attractive, physically fit and active. Prior sailing experience is not necessary but a sense of adventure, humor and joie de vivre is essential. Private accommodations are available at onset.

Prefer one who has been struck dumb......
obedient....
goes like an energizer bunny......
has the tongue of an auctioneer.....
large trust fund....

successful applicants will be fitted for a personal body condom.......

I would say that any female reading his add can make up her own mind, it was such an add that has put together a British chap and a very fine lady from South Africa, both had gone through losses of their partners, they had tried several ways to meet people, but in the end it was an add placed in a British Yachting magazine, that brought them together. If one thinks of it life is very short and when one gets older there is not much time to waste, so using any means in a desent way to meet someone I think could be exceptable. I always think that sometimes people reading somethimg which was ment to be honest, is miss interpreted as some people just seem to think that way.

The fact of the matter is that I have a great boat and am looking for someone to share the fun. As I'm in an occupation that doesn't allow for much social interaction I'm reduced to casting a line in these murky waters and hoping for the best.
And no, the somewhat bright need not apply. I value my personal space, as I'm sure you do, and am particular with whom I share it.
As far as private accommodations, if you actually cruise then you know space is at a premium and as I'm ultimately not looking for a platonic sailing buddy but am cognizant of reality, I figured this option reflects a workable compromise at the "onset."
And, yes, I've tried most of the traditional dating sites. My experience is that most respondents there are looking to nest. I'm just looking for someone who wants to go play in the Bahamas for the winter. If you have any constructive suggestions I'd love to hear them.
And no, the somewhat bright need not apply.

you are contradict your self my dear Captain!!! (we still don't know why are you a Captain ? or just feel very "nautical" call yourself that?
second now the somewhat bright ..is negotiable? dumb will do ..long as she tug along?
you see the problem the same as Bill Clinton had.. JUST BE HONEST , don't tell story just say what it is .. I'm f lonely , like to roll around the hay , and go sailing if you like exchange room and board , all the rest is just BS my dear Stevie !! just a suggestion if you call yourself Captain Stevie you reduce you chances by 99% ...
nothing wrong with your boat, nothing wrong looking for a partner , just don't post BS like you SO cool ! you are not ..
Captain Stevie is wont do ! trust me

o and by the way question this bunch being a sailor ? with the name Captain Stevie? are you freaking kidding me?

I hope you don't "sport" a Greek fisherman hat for God sake !!! if so loose it NOW!!

I come in Peace...
Actually I'm a really nice guy with a great boat, even if it is a cat, who gets to live on it for the winters in the Keys and Bahamas. I was hoping that once I got into the sailing life out there I'd meet plenty of eligible women. Uhh, uhh--WRONG! I've found that most cruisers are fairly advanced in years (the most likely to afford it) and those with companions onboard are extremely jealous and possessive--go figure!
I didn't expect to ignite such a firestorm and apologize to any of you who found my posting offensive.
Alone but not lonely, I shall endure...

you right 100 % the key word be honest , and yes life is short .. so don't come up with a grocery list , a stupid name ( bad enough for a cheap porn star as Captain Stevie) , don't go around a bush (per verbum) .. just say what it is .. looking for a date , ,could, be more , spend time on my boat if you like , I also want to get laid if possible are you a game? NOW that make it short and honest .. not the Cap Stevie wish list with a pseudo intellectual ck list ..that is the problem..not the intent
