Hello John,
When in May? I will be sailing ( catamaran 40' , training and fun cruise ) in the Fench West Indies until the middle of May.
I spent 12 years in the Navy, six at sea on Destroyers. I am familiar with both standing and running rigging. I can steer a compass heading. Handle lines and hook a mooring bouy.
Sailed mostly small boats ( 25' and under ) but I took an eight day training cruise on a 50' Beneteau last april and more than held my own.
Also , last week end , crewed on another 50' Beneteau from Montauk to Glen Cove to deliver for winterizing ( winds gusting over 40kts and seas over 5' ).
Again, I believe I was an asset.

I am 62 years old and in extremely good health , both mental and physical. I am an active snowboarder and just quit active skydiving this last year due to lack of interest. I kayak , walk, and jog on a regular basis. I am ( as of last April ) retired from my position as Engineering Manager. I am tolerant of mistakes of others ( as I am far from perfect ) , if you never make a mistake, you are not learning anything new.
I do have an inconvenience, which is my hearing. I am deaf on my left side and have a loss on my right. I have been told that I make up for this by my capabilities.

Crew will be asked to get themselves and their gear to Lauderdale. It's best if you come from the northeast. We can fly down for departure, and be close to home on arrival.

I can vouch for defrich. We met last fri and sailed with bene505 from Montauk to Glen Cove in up to 50 knot winds.

Had a great time. Defrich is a great seaman and more agile than guys half his age.

Not that anyone asked but I will vouch for both Davidpm and Defrich as great boating companions. David is someone you really want to have on board for his depth of knowledge and Richard is both a gentleman and a sailor (retired Navy) who you should have on board even if you have to shout.
Neither David or Rich had any of my bad habits such as smoking cigarettes and were really good companions on our short 90 nm, 2 day delivery from Montauk, NY to Glen Cove in gale force conditions. Both David and Rich are like having your own 'Popeye the sailor man' as crew.
I can highly recommend both of these guys as crew.
I just wish that I would be available too.
