Transatlantic on wish-list

Hello to all on the forum.
I have a close friend who unfortunately has had a terminal diagnosis. Top of his wish-list is the desire to make a transatlantic crossing as crew on a sailing boat - the racier the better.
He is a highly intelligent 43 yr old guy with a great sense of humour and positive attitude.

Should anyone here be able to consider his joining them, or know of any boat making the trip in the next 3-6 months, please PM me here and I'll pass on the contact.

This is an absolutely genuine request.

Thanks to all for your consideration

Alex

Alex...suggest you post as well on
ssca.org
cruisersforum.com
sailinganarchy.com
sailboatowners.com
Also...the ARC Europe starts in early May with a bunch of boats and perhaps someone in charge there might arrange something.
World Cruising Club ARC Europe itinerary

Good luck!

Alex—

Sorry to hear about your friend. I wish you the best of luck finding them a boat to join. It would help if you gave some details about his sailing experience, if any, as well as what other skills he brings as crew—can he cook, navigate, etc...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Update: I've passed on a bunch of links and contacts and one in particular - sailopo.com - seem to tick the boxes at the moment.
I'll post again with news when it happens.

Sincere thanks to all for your good wishes and advice.

Alex

Without wanting to light up a hornet's nest of protest and said with the greatest of respect - it would be good to know how terminal and because of what.

As said - with the greatest respect - the thought of someone dying on my boat halfway across an ocean would not help me sleep at night

try "les Glénans" as well - it is a professional outfit that does sea training around the world (mostly Europe) they are coming back to France from the Antilles late spring. (glenans.asso.fr) apprendre la voile avec les glenans - stages de voile en bretagne, en mediterranee, en corse[/url])

Not sure if they have a site in English but you can probably find you way easy enough. Best of luck.
