Florida to North Carolina in April Crew wanted

I need to relocate my boat from Tampa Bay to the Chesapeake. Want to do this in 3 legs; Leg 1 : Tampa Bay to Stuart, Leg 2 Stuart to Beaufort, NC, Leg 3 Beaufort NC to Annapolis.

Leg 1 might take place as early as next week (April 15)
Leg 2 around April 28 Offshore direct
Leg 3 ICW shortly after

Unfortunately I can't afford to pay a delivery captain (relocation for a new job in MD after everything is so down in Florida).

I have experience with years of coastal cruising (Gulf of Mexico up to Key West). Bare boating in the BVI, Sailing in the Baltic between Germany and Denmark.

Especially for the offshore leg I would appreciate a seasoned experienced crew who has done it before. I saw the thread of SuzySailor who found her crew and thought why not try it also.

The boat is a 1997 Island Packet 37 nicely equipped but no radar nor SSB.
She should be up to the task.

Looking forward to your reply ( Sorry no cute twins aboard just me a 53 years old guy)

i have some free time and could join you in georgetown sc..and help you up the coast to the bay...i know the chessie pretty well. and although driving the ditch ain't the best scenario, it can be the safest.i am 52, so we'd be veritable chick magnets...

Sam;

Thanks for your offer, I will consider if the need arises. My leg # 2 is planned to go offshore and ride the Gulf stream directly to Beaufort, NC, therefore I will be kind of far out to pick you up in SC. But leg # 3 comes along later and if you have time and want to prove your "magnetism" ....

I will post my progress here within this thread. For now I am concerned about the first leg, that starts tomorrow afternoon with a night sail to Ft. Myers to enter the Okeechobee Waterway and to make the 49' RR bridge with a boat that has 49,5' mast height (+ wind/antenna). Perhaps I hang one crew out on the whisker pole .... just kidding).

volkhard,
i can see your point...the gulfstream would be way more fun than a more coastal route.
i don't envy bridges, time, and tide with a 50+ ft mast and associated wavy things trying to clear.
well..i have a magnetic personality.
Godspeed on your journey

Let me know if you're still looking for crew. I could join you for the Stuart to Beaufort leg. I was one of the crew with SuzySailor (not one of the blonde models - actually never saw 'em) on the Key Biscayne / Holden Beach trip. I can send you my info if you're interested.

thanks - steve

First leg of the journey succesful completed. Odyssey is in Stuart and waits for me to decide on crew and time.
We made the RR bridge with 6" of clearance and despite some rough weather at the start (7:00PM Tue 04/14) we arrived in Stuart at 5:00PM on Friday 04/17.
