Looking to Crew Summer ‘03

I have just purchased a Frers-33 and am starting to recruit for a not too strenuous racing program next season. We are in Centerport, NY so I am not sure if you want to travel that far. I am planning Wednesday nights and probably a dozen Sat or Sun races. I am not a yeller, and we will just be learning the new boat this year. Let me know if you are interested.

Kat,
I suggest visiting marina''s in your area, personally or via internt (many have web pages) and find out their race schedule(s). You can also get race and crew info at regatta web sites.

The marina''s usually have bulletin boards. Try to join a crew before the race date. If you can''t find anyone, go early to the participating marina''s and ask people if they need crew.

I show up all the time on race day and have never been turned down. I also find that it''s also a good way to meet people and see how various crews work together, so you can later pick and choose who you would rather be with.

I frequently travel to, or near, port cities and I always search the web for sail race and regatta schedules. An exciting regatta is always a good excuse to travel...

Good Luck
Ernest
