Crew Wanted - Chicago to New Orleans

Would like one or two others to accompany me from Chicago to New Orleans aboard my Chaser 29 sailboat. This trip will be via the Illinois Waterway and the Mississippi River. We will be "mast down" to St. Louis and then stepped from there on down. I would be interested if you would change your route to the lower half of the Great Circle Route. Cairo up the Ohio to the Tennessee to the Tombiggee to Mobile Bay and the ICW to New Orleans. The lower Mississippi is Not the way to go for a Pleasure craft. Are you gas or diesel power? It really makes a difference between fuel sources and how long the legs are. Done it twice its a great trip.

You know, I'm interested. I live in Kansas City and could hook up in St. Louis for a leg after a few phone conversations to get to know each other. I'm 40, in good shape, no kids and my own business so no problems there. I taught myself to sail on the Lake of the Ozarks and have boated the Missouri River, though never sailed her. And I'm familiar with the book River-Horse and hot dang if I don't just like your idea. My only "payment" would be a sea-time letter from you as captain for my Coast Guard time sheet. Otherwise, shall I call? Besides, I feel lucky: Sept. 1st is my birthday!

to nedf, the Great Circle Route do you need to demast ? is the sailboat with gas engine any problem getting a gas, what is the problem with the other way too much commercial traffic ? , thanks al
