Looking to Crew near Washington DC

Hello everyone, first off I'd like to say that Sailnet is a great website and community, and hopefully I can contribute more in the future!

My name is Wyatt and I live in the Washington DC area and am looking to crew anywhere nearby (Chesepeake, Potomac, etc) for daysails or longer trips. I am 21 years old and a Sergeant in the Honor Guard at Fort Myer. I took sailing lessons this summer and daysailed each week, but would like to get some more experience and hopefully learn from people more experienced than myself. I am strong, fit, have never smoked or drank (I know, I can't be a pirate without rum!) and have a strong desire to learn and give a hand to those who need it. Also I am an OK cook (pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc no problem) and just want to get out on the water!

I'm usually available on the weekends usually and also have almost 2 months of leave saved up to use, so if you are making a longer trip I would love to take leave and assist. Please PM or email me at footbagfreak at hotmail dot com (I used to play soccer and hacky sack) if you have a spot open or would like some company for a weekend.

Thanks!
Wyatt

Just piping in that I am still here and looking to crew this winter for any daysails or short stints. I thought everyone had a hard time finding crew! Also if it's inappropriate to 'bump' a thread like this please let me know. Thanks!

Crew

Wyatt,

The sailing season has ended for me, but if you are still in the DC area next spring, please contact me. I am 31, and I just returned from a 7 month cruise down to the Bahamas with my fiance. She is not going to get on the boat anytime soon, so I am always looking for crew out on the bay. I am DC local, and my boat is in Annapolis area.

Michael

Thanks Michael, that sounds great. I just picked up a 1975 Catalina 22 that I will be sailing next year, but I'd love to crew for you when you're available to learn a thing or two. Thanks a bundle.
