Crew Wanted: Savin Hill YC, Dorchester, MA to Herrington Harbour, Chesapeake Bay, MD

My brother and I are seeking one or two crew for the above trip. We estimate 5-7 days out. Route is essentially from Boston, 'round the Cape, down the Atlantic, up the Delaware Bay, across the canal, then down to Herrington Harbour. Winds and weather allowing of course.

Sailing experience is a must, gaff-rigged schooner exeperience a big plus. This is our first time with a gaffer. The boat is St. Brendan, click here for some details.

We intend to sail around Memorial weekend (either departing that weekend, or, the week just following). Catch is that we are conducting the sea trial for the boat in the early part of that weekend (Friday or Saturday). While we don't expect any issues, one never knows. So, some flexibility of meeting us & departure ability is a must.

Good luck and congrats on owning the Saint Brendon. She is quite a vessel. I was very interested in buying her as well. You beat me to it. Please let me know if you ever want to sell her.

Yesterday afternoon heading up the Narrows into Boston and I noticed a schooner coming out, heading South. Not too many schooners around, and what do you know...

I opted not to join the voyage, sounded like fun, but it would have been difficult on my schedule, and more importantly I didn't feel the schedule he was trying to accomplish left enough time for my safety concerns to be addressed. He wanted to splash the hull, then do the sea trials later the same day, and leave for the trip either the next morning or the morning after that.

I wasn't comfortable setting sail for offshore with a crew that was new to the boat, and on a boat that was just getting splashed 24-48 hours earlier. If they just set sail this past weekend, then they are nearly a month behind the schedule they told me. They had wanted to be underway the Sunday or Monday of Memorial day weekend... I wonder what caused the delay?
