Delivery Captain needed- Atlantic City to NYC

Well, this seems like the most logical place to post this. I am looking for a delivery captain for the short trip from Atlantic City to NYC. I am hoping to find someone who would be able to make the trip either Monday or Tuesday.

The boat is '27 Hunter ('81) that I am buying in Atlantic City, and myself and a friend would be joining you for the trip. It would be really great if you don't mind being a bit of an instructor as well. I have done the Basic Keelboat and Coast Cruising U.S. Sailing courses before but could sure use a brush up, and don't feel confident enough to make this trip in a boat that I don't know at all without the help of a professional. This is my first boat, and I don't want to break it the same day I buy it.

If you are a U.S. Sailing teacher and could give me the rest of certifications that would be a plus, but not at all necessary.

If anyone out there can give me advice on where to find a Captain that would also be a great help. Thanks everybody.

This is awfully short notice. Many delivery captains are booked weeks in advance. Atlantic City to NYC isn't a very long trip... Have you had the boat surveyed??

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Feel free to contact me through my profile. I am headed to NYC for another delivery headed south and may be able to work something out with you. References can be found on several capt. wanted threads on the Cruisers forum, Scott

I met Scott last year. Helpful, resourceful nice guy. I didn't sail with him, but I would have no reservation hiring him for a delivery.

Much Thanks

I want to thank everyone for their very helpful replies. The previous owner agreed to sail with us, so that saved me some money and plenty of stress. I use the term "sail" very liberally here as there were absolutely no winds and we only got in about 6 hours of actual sailing during the entire trip. At least I know I bought a reliable engine. Hopefully I'll never have to use it that much again.

She is now safely in her new port, and now that I am a first time sailboat owner (so much fun to say that) I know that I will have plenty more questions for all of you. Thanks again.
