Couple Seeking Transatlantic Crossing

Hello people of the sea,

We are an easy-going adventurous couple currently living on Lake Superior but looking to move to Norway after April of 2011. We’ve decided that flying there would be much too easy and are therefore seeking out a more challenging mode of transportation. We are willing to travel anywhere on the east coast of North America for departure and are open to any opportunities that move us closer to our final destination.

We have some sailing experience. I’ve been certified through ISPA as competent crew, have my radio operator’s certificate, and have also completed the ISPA coastal navigation course. I’ve occasionally crewed for various racing vessels, and we’ve both done some multiday cruising with friends. Jess is also trained in wilderness first response and has led several trips for Outward Bound. We have both worked as sea kayak guides and are accustomed to extended expeditions on the water.

On top of all these helpful skills Jess bakes the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had.

Any information that may help us get to the other side would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

Aaron & Jess.

Sounds like good qualifications. You might try to find an ocean cruising forum, or check Offshore Passage Opportunities. They have a good reputation. Most of the crewing here is coastal, or Caribbean.
