Want to crew in Sarasota to Cuba race

Anyone looking for crew in May for the Sarasota to Cuba race, please let me know. Myself for sure and I have another crew member with no racing experience who would be interested as well. He's a great crew member though...lost of cruising experience and a definite "high energy", "worker bee" who will be the first to dive into any job from washing dishes to climbing the mast.

Im more of a cruiser than a racer, but have crewed all positions in races. Not much of a spinnaker guru, but can handle pretty much anything else and Im a fast learner!

Im very easy going and easy to get along with. Not a bad cook either if that might win me a berth. Im also willing to contribute to teh expenses of the trip.

I'm based out of Atlanta, but would gladly come to Florida to meet you prior to the race if that would make you more comfortable taking on unknown crew.

They are trying to do that race again? I was set to crew on "Lucky Dancer" last year but from what I heard they couldn't get permission to do the race. Maybe now with looser restrictions it's possible.

What kind of boat are you sailing?

Don't have a ride yet, but hoping somebody needs crew. I also put in a posting on the yacht club site. I don't think they have the official approval yet, but they have slotted Miami as a "backup destination" in case it doesn't come through. Not quite as much fun as Havana, but Im looking to get some ocean racing experience, so if I have to spend a few days in Miami in the end of winter, I don't think I'll complain too much.

I have a friend down there with a Catalina 30 that Im trying to talk into it. I know its not exactly the most ocean-racing oriented boat, but we'll get there eventually. We've taken it to the Bahamas several times.
