Bonaire to UK

We are seeking one or two athletic crew members for a 8 month cruise from Bonaire in the Dutch Antilles to the UK via Cartagena, Grand Cayman, Roatan, Mexico, Miami, New York and Cork.

The cruise starts in September 2011 and will end in July 2012.

The ideal candidate would be a non-smoker with reasonable sailing skills and good boat fixing skills as they will be needed to help supervise boat work in Cartagena.

Spanish fluency would be helpful but not essential.

The boat is a well equipped 55ft blue water boat with very experienced owners.

There will be lots of scuba diving and shore time as this is a cruise and not a delivery.

We pay all on-board expenses.

If interested please PM me with a brief resume.

Phil

Re: Bonaire to UK

Hello,

Since I am a new member to Sailnet I cannot yet private message you but I wanted to express my interest in helping you crew your boat from Bonaire to the UK. I will be graduating from college this May and I am looking for work on a sailboat this summer.

I only have limited experience sailing on freshwater lakes in 14-22 foot dingies, but I am handy, competent under pressure and comfortable on the water. I am easy going but dependable, and I am looking for good company and good stories. I also do not smoke.

While I have never worked on a boat I have extensive experience in carpentry, experience with metal working, and limited experience working with fiberglass. I am generally handy and can quickly teach myself new techniques and skills.

If you still have a position available on your boat I would love to learn more. I am very interested in getting some ocean experience and this trip sounds like an amazing opportunity. Message me with more information and I can send you a more complete resume of my skills and experience.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Matt

You should add that any applicants must either be U.S. permanent residents, citizens, or possess a current tourist visa to the U.S. (which is not necessarily easy for many people to acquire).
