How to spend a winter

I'm on the east coast working until the snows come, after that I'm getting on a boat as fast as I can. Don't know a whole lot, bad with names above all, but I work hard and learn fast.

I'd like to be in the water for at least a month in something over 35', preferably headed south but I'm not picky. I can get some gear for myself if someone can make me a packing list. Don't have a lot of cash but I can certainly contribute what I can.

I'd also be interested spending some time working at a shipyard if someone knows a shipwright. I can travel just about anywhere in the US.

Ryan
