Ship to take me and my dog from west coast to Hawaii

Moving to Hawaii and no way I am putting my dog in a plane. Open to any type of pay arrangement including supplies ect. Would like to leave in late june early july. I have no sailing experience, but am a quick study and resourceful. Please private message me if interested.

What breed of dog? a purse-sized shih tzu is one thing, a st bernard that requires 4 lbs of food /day and produces waste on the scale of a small village is a whole different circle of hell.

Have you checked out the requirements to take a dog into Hawaii? Not easy.

She is a golden retriever and she has been on a boat and did fine. She is all clear to go to Hawaii it is just the getting there that is the problem. Anyone know about chartered jets?

Lisbon, call a few of the commercial carriers. American will take a dog that size in the passenger cabin of their jets, you simply have to buy 3 seats and put the dog across the two outboard ones. At least, they used to offer that.

Flying does NOT mean sticking you dog in a crate in an unpressurized hold. Call a few carriers and ask.

Hi Lisbon,
Flying a dog on a plane is *FAR*, and I mean unbelievably far, less stressful on a dog than taking him on an ocean voyage. A few hours in the air vs. days and days of ocean waves, no place to eliminate in an unnatural vehicle.

I know quite a few dog breeders and dog people that ship their dogs around the world (I deal with a rare breed making it necessary to do so). It is much easier on both you and the dog than sailing.

[IMG][/IMG]While staying on an old sailboat in Ilwaco Washington at the mouth of the Columbia a woman took her dog (a black Lab) out on a fishing boat. In a moment of rough seas the dog fell over board. She went in after it and another hand after her. Only the pilot survived. I have seen dogs hung more than once by falling off boats with only a neck leash. When dogs need to go to the bathroom in the night they can get anxious and confused. There is nothing safe about boats for humans let alone animals. However I have nothing against dogs on boats. I even decided I could use the company and sail with one myself. I chose the smaller one. She complains a lot... I had wanted one for a mate but Chihuahua's only come in skippers.
