Cruising in Western Florida
I am going cruising in West Florida for a week. Is there any way I can prepare myself for this cruise and come up with a suggested itinerary? And how can I find out about average winds and weather over there? Alex Sue and Larry respond: Having only cruised briefly on the West Coast of Florida, we don't really feel we are the best source for the perfect itinerary. We would, however, recommend you get a copy of Claiborne Young's Cruising Guide to Western Florida. Also, if this is a charter boat you are using, the charter company likely has a recommended route. Don't try to go too far in just a week. This can often bring too many pressures of deadlines to get back on time. There's a lot to see close to Tampa Bay. Don't worry about the weather. April is nice everywhere in Florida. If you really want specifics though, I'm sure Tampa has a website that would answer your questions, and the above guidebook might cover that. Best Regards, Sue & Larry
