Looking for E-Mail Service

We will be heading out on an extensive cruise. I have HAM e-mail but I am interested in your use of shore-side e-mailing services. Please tell me what software and provider you use and how it works. Also, what do you know about the Internet Cafes?

RP

Sue and Larry respond:

For our provider, we chose AOL, simply because it offers an 800-number-access option. This gives you greater flexibility when you have to borrow shore-side hookups. We find the Internet cafes in less than 25 percent of the areas that we cruise. To be honest, we've only needed to use one such service one. The price was $2 per hour with your own computer and $6 per hour if you used their system. We've found that most libraries also provide Internet access at no charge. If you frequently visit marinas, you can usually use a line there.

Best regards,
Sue & Larry
