Curry/Honey Bread

A unique flavored bread that makes an ordinary sandwich special. Also makes wonderful toast.

For two loaves:

½ Cup Lukewarm water
1 Tsp. Pure cane white sugar
3 Tbsp Active dry yeast
4 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Curry powder
2/3 Cup Honey
2 Cups Milk
1 Egg
1 Tsp.
Salt 6-8 Cups Flour

In bottom of large bowl mix lukewarm water and sugar together, then add yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes. Melt butter and stir in curry. Cook gently for 2 minutes. Add honey, milk and salt to the butter, then remove from heat. Add this mixture and the egg to the yeast mixture, then start adding flour slowly, mixing with a wooden spoon. Once you can't stir in anymore flour, remove dough to a floured surface, and knead gently, adding flour as needed, until dough is soft and elastic.

Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and place in a warm area until doubled in size (about an hour). Punch dough down, and divide in two pieces. Form in loaf shape of your choice, remembering to always flatten dough first and roll to that shape to avoid air pockets. Place loaves on greased baking pans, cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 45 minutes, or until loaves sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
