Finding Trailers
I am looking for a trailer for my SouthCoast 23. Is there a special name for trailers made for boats with a full keel, and if so, what are some good places where to buy one, preferably close to Tampa, FL.
Dan Dickison responds: Thanks for getting in touch. There are a number of companies that specialize in sailboat trailers. The first one that comes to mind is Triad, is based in Connecticut (www.sailnet.com/triad/models.htm). That company has a pretty useful website where you can research the details of what you might need. I realize that's probably not the best option for you from a geographic standpoint, so here are a couple of other possibilities you should investigate: Look up Trailex on the web (www.trailex.com/sail-boat-trailers.htm). They've got a dealer network, and maybe they have an outlet near you. There's also TrailRite in Santa Ana, CA, (www.trailrite.com), but that too is pretty far away. Perhaps your best bet from a stand point of geography is Tropic Trailer, Inc. in Ft. Meyers, FL. You can get in touch with them via their website (www.boattrailer.com/tropic4a.html). Here's hoping that one of the above will work for you. Good luck.
