ICW Cruise - relocation

I''m working on my planned ICW cruise this fall (oct/nov).
Quitting my job and heading off with no real end-point I''d like to get some good info for gulf coast areas to settle.
I''m a computer professional by trade but skilled in other facets.
But I would like to get peoples input on where to be for a 40 yr old Brit with laid back mentality for the Buffet life.
Be nice to have names and contacts to meet, share a beer, play guitar and see whats out there.
If anyone''s heading that way or been already please throw me a line so to speak.
I''m getting the usual guides etc and know people thats been there but I just aint got no final destination planned yet.
Liveaboard would be nice on my E27.
I got more to tell but lets see if this gets a response first.

Pensacola Florida might be a place to consider. Nice Harbor ,nice beaches some liveaboards. Easy sailing to New Orleans or Key west or Mexico. Not being from the USA you are also free to travel to Cuba.(I assume). We have our boat in Panama City Florida and have enjoyed the area. When we were docked in Mobile Bay Pensacola was the closest place to get nice beaches. Mobile bay is OK but relatively shallow and dirty. We like it because it is plenty big for sailing when the gulf is too rough.

I am was considering more south, as it makes my trip pretty long from Norfolk VA but you''re not the first to mention Pensacola.

check out my message on living aboard.Where I am is accessable to either coast.At roughly the 4 oclock position on lake okeechobee is a town called Pahokee.You can get there by the loxahatchee waterway through the intra coastal waterway.It will lead to either coast.the rates are reasonable and there are lots of slips available.
