Do people go to church?

Looking forward to cruising in the not to distant future I''m wondering if there are people out there who find a way to get into church once in a while or is it just too hard to work out.

R, we''ve found it''s usually quite easy so long as you''re not picky about where you go. We''re not church goers but attend church occasionally because it''s a special, unique way to connect with the local area we''re visiting. In the Hispanic countries we''ve visited, it seems it''s almost impossible to truly visit the country without having at least a bit of exposure to the Catholic Church experience.

Anywhere you choose to dock or anchor, provided it''s near a village, town or city, you''re likely to find folks ashore and the churches they attend.

Thanks for that. We are finding the same thing on our present cycle touring trip. Not the best way, the only way, to quick connect with local people is in church. We have made loads of friendly, helpful, fun connections and have doubled the address list for our weekly update to friends and family. It will be a while before we begin cruising, but will probably start in Sea of Cortez, and the Catholic Church works for us. We''re Lutherans which I describe as catholics that don''t recognise the authority of the Pope, which also describes most of the catholics I know.

And if you''re ever in George Town, Bahamas, there is a cruiser''s Christian Beach Church. Yes, it''s on the beach with a lay preacher.

Sure - my wife and I always go when we could find a Catholic Church!
