Cruising from Chicago to Monroe

I plan to sail from the Chicago area (Waukegan, IL) to Monroe, MI.
I am looking for a time range to plan for and places to stop at (overnight). I will not be doing much non-stop sailing. Just planning on putting in a long day each leg.
Any personal experiences or websites are appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

I have cruised Lake M for 25 years and thought I knew all the ports. Where is Monroe, MI?

The paragraph below is for a sailboat doing 5.5 knots.
It is one day (10 hours) from Port Huron to Gibraltar, MI (where the Detroit River meets lake Erie), then a few hours down the lake from there. There are a lot of marinas on the west side of Lake St. Claire, and some marinas on between Belle Isle and the Michigan mainland at the north end of the Detroit river, but you would have to go up back around Belle Isle to go down the river (the Belle Isle bridge is too short for sail boats and does not open). After that, there are not a lot of marinas until you approach Lake Erie. If you make it to there, you might as well continue to Monroe.

Hey Matt,
I finally put 2 and 2 together when I saw your board name. Got a new boat? Cool! How was the trip to the Islands?

Russ,
The trip was great. The weather was near perfect, though mother nature made her wild side known between Kefelonia and Sicily. Being out there was like nothing else. The water is very clear. I do wish there were more fish to catch though.

Thanks for your comments.
