I just came back from Tanzania, where my sister lives since 15 years.
She suggested me to go to Kilwa, a small village on the coast, south of the Rufiji river.
There I met a friend who manages a Dow, a local sailing boat, taking guests on sailing trips north toward the Songo Songo Arcipelagus or south towards Mtwara at the border with Mozambique.
Beleive me this is the most beautifull and untouched place I ever seen. Coral reefs, sand banks, islands with white sand beaches...and no tourists around as nobody knows about it..everybody goes to Zanzibar instead, but beleive me this is as beautifull!!
A sea very rich in life, fishing and snoerkling paradise! I beleive the best and most fascinating way to see the coast is definetively sailing on a Dow!!! It is quite different then a usual sail...
