Live blog - Lefkas to Stoupa on Jaguar 27 'Cake Walking Baby'

This is the live tale of the delivery over two weeks of 'Cake Walking Baby', an ex-flotilla, 1978 Jaguar 27 (UK-built Catalina 27) from Lefkas through the Southern Ionian around the Messenian peninsular into the Gulf of Kalamata and on to her new home somewhere near Stoupa.

I will be accompanied by my friends James and Jeffrey. I have sailed with James a couple of times before many years ago - we are both very 'rusty' - and Jeffrey has not been on a sail boat before. It should be fun!

Follow our trials and tribulations here as they happen. We will be posting updates at least daily. The physical journey starts 24th August. The emotional journey has already started.... Bookmark this thread to follow us!

Re: Live blog - Lefkas to Stoupa on Jaguar 27 'Thassos'

Here is a little update as our 'repo' sail draws closer. I am afraid the title is already out of date.

The boat was originally called 'Thassos' after the Greek island and so she remained all her life from 1978 until last year when the previous owner changed it to "Business Time". When the matter of change of registered owner cropped up, I thought I was given free reign to change the name again. However, changing a boat's name is considered bad luck and it transpired that she was still marked "Thassos" and still considered to be "Thassos". Hence, I have officially 'changed' her name back to Thassos, rounding the circle.

I met up with my crew, James and Jeffrey, and we discussed potential itineraries. Our strategy is to avoid the crowds of the Ionian islands, get ahead of ourselves early on and enjoy the relatively 'unspoilt' Southern Peloponnese. The indicative itinerary is looking like this.

Sun, 24 Aug 2014 Vilho Marina, Lefkas
Mon, 25 Aug 2014 Vathi, Ithaca
Tue, 26 Aug 2014 Kavos harbour, Zakinthos
Wed, 27 Aug 2014 Katokolon (for Olympia)
Thu, 28 Aug 2014 Kyparissia
Fri, 29 Aug 2014 Pylos/Navarino Bay
Sat, 30 Aug 2014
Sun, 31 Aug 2014
Mon, 1 Sep 2014 Methoni
Tue, 2 Sep 2014 Finakounda
Wed, 3 Sep 2014 Koroni
Thu, 4 Sep 2014 Stoupa
Fri, 5 Sep 2014
Sat, 6 Sep 2014 Kalamata

All thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Jeffrey will be videoing and I will be the stills photographer. We will be sharing our adventure here!

Tim.
