You are a good man Marazul. You should stand up for what you believe in. You do not owe anyone on this site an apology. Particularly someone who has not experienced the brutality of a Communist Dictator first hand.

I cannot help but wonder why, if the Cuban people are so fed up with Castro...why they have''t done something about him and his government?
The insinuation that organizing and carrying through an insurrection against an entrenched totalitarian government is a piece of cake is asinine. Stalin and Mao died with their boots off, and Hitler probably would have, too, if he hadn't lost WWII-ETO.

"if the Cuban people are so fed up with Castro...why they have''t done something about him and his government?" Things are rarely as simple as they seem. Among the points not mentioned in the news, are that Castro took over by force of arms AND once he was in power, he proudly announced that Cubans would never need arms again, and his men proudly supported him by suroundering their weapons. A backdoor universal confiscation, which neatly ensured they could never be used against him--the way he had used them against the Batista government. Castro was an is a student of revolution and politics, he wasn't just a Bubba jungle folk hero.

He's also an increbily clever man, perhaps even brilliant, and seeded the entire country with spies and informants. Going against Castro and The Party, unarmed and surounded by informants? Not an easy thing. And anyone born there is the last 40 years (i.e. most of the able-bodied people) have been ruthlessly indoctrinated for their entire lives to know that without Castro, life would be even worse. After all, they have free universal medical care and education--which we don't even have in the US. They "know" that.
